About Us

YOU DREAM IT, WE DESIGN IT.

Oberholtzer Custom Cabinetry

Oberholtzer Custom Cabinetry has been serving the Lehigh Valley area of Pennsylvania since it was founded by Cyrus Oberholtzer upon returning home from World War II in 1945. He began by making cabinets for grandfather clocks out of the shop in his Coopersburg home. This quickly evolved into other cabinets and full kitchens. Through the years the company passed from Cyrus to his son Roscoe and eventually his grandson Dennis. As master woodworkers, the Oberholtzer family expertise quickly built the company’s reputation for quality craftsmanship, fine cabinetry, and superior customer service.

In 1991 the company moved its headquarters to Historic Bethlehem where Mark Richardson and his son Gordon continue to operate with a strong commitment to the same traditional values of hard work, integrity, attention to detail, and customer service that has come to be synonymous with the Oberholtzer name. Our business has grown through word of mouth as satisfied customers recommend us to their friends and families.

WHAT WE DO

Transform
Your Home

Our design services range from “turnkey” to “a la carte” based on customer needs and desires.  We can function as your general contractor and handle your job from start to finish as designer and project manager or we can simply design your room and provide your cabinetry as a part of a larger renovation.

The Process

Visit Our Showroom

We at Oberholtzer strive to set ourselves apart from the competition by going above and beyond to meet the needs of our customers. The process begins in the initial interview and “wish list” review with the customer. We encourage you to bring the inspiration for your project to this visit. Magazine clippings, photos of a friend’s kitchen or your favorite piece of art can all help our designers to better understand your vision.

Site Visit

During a visit to your home, we will gather measurements, take photos of the spaces, inspect the mechanical processes of your home and get a feel for your lifestyle and décor preferences. We will then begin to put together design options and budgeting.

Preliminary Design and Budgeting

We pride ourselves on blending an “old school” approach with current cutting edge technology. Today’s digital age allows us to collaborate in the virtual world with our customers.  Often more is done online and via email over the course of a few days than used to be accomplished in hours of meetings over the course of weeks.  You will be presented with computer generated floor plans, elevations, as well as three dimensional perspective drawings to help you visualize your project as well as a detailed line-item budget plan.

Revision and Refinement

Our designers will continue to work with the customer to refine the preliminary plans and make final selections for as long as in necessary. We use a “team” approach to design where every member of the organization collaborates in our work. This approach allows us to see the project from many angles, results in innovative designs, helps projects progress smoothly and ensures that attention is paid to every detail.

Contract

You will meet with your designer to sign a formal contract. It will be reviewed in detail and any questions will be addressed before signing. The signing of the contract and receipt of down payment authorizes Oberholtzer to order your cabinetry.

Implementation and Support

We offer exceptional support services from the time of project conception throughout design, into job site supervision, during installation and beyond. Depending on job scope, the process can be accomplished fairly quickly or can take months from conception to completion.  Call or drop by our Showroom to make an appointment and get started.
